Get your ebook ready.
If you own a kindle then you already know how frustrating it is to buy a poorly formatted ebook: no working table of contents, no proper page breaks, sloppy layout — it’s like they just threw 50,000 words onto the screen without any thought or any effort to provide a pleasant reader experience.
I would say that such formatting screams “amateur,” but major publishers are guilty of this too, sometimes. They can get away with it. Self-published authors can’t.
The problem with Automated Formatting.
There are programs available that promise to automatically format a Word Document into a Kindle book. I haven’t tested all of them, but most of them commit the same errors I mentioned above.
It doesn’t make sense to spend months writing and re-writing and editing and proofreading a book, and then get it ready for publication by way of a come-what-may conversion program.
You deserve better, and so do your readers. When someone invests in something you’ve written — even if it’s only a couple of bucks — they deserve a well-designed book, done with a human touch, not just a file run through an automated program. That’s because the reader hasn’t just given you a few dollars of their money, they’ve offered to give you several hours of their time. This is why I encourage writers to honor this gift by going the second mile in providing a quality ebook.
This includes providing a quality cover. Your family and friends will probably buy your book no matter what it looks like, and they’ll wade through poor formatting because they like you.
However, if you want to attract readers outside your immediate circle, it’s important to create a quality product — it tells the reader that you take your work seriously.
After you finished writing your book, we’ll help you get it ready for Kindle — a clean, professional looking format and (if needed) a professionally designed cover.
How it works.
You give us your completed book in Word format, and in seven days we’ll deliver ebook files that you can publish on Amazon.
If you need a cover, we’ll create a cover that you can be proud of.
We’ll also provide a step-by-step guide for getting your book published in the top venues.
